Easy and Affordable Winter Date Nights

If you love being outside in warmer weather and feel as cooped up in the winter season like I do you may also have hit a wall with date night ideas in the colder months!

Well I have scrounged up some date ideas that might get you out of the house and stay within your budget to boot ;)

Below Zero:

  1. Indoor S’more’s (Price Range: 0-$)

    • We have an indoor firepit/s’more maker and it is so fun to just sit at the table together and make a tasty treat (usually only enjoyed in the summertime). If you don’t want to buy an indoor s’mores maker, toaster ovens, regular ovens and stovetop flames make an excellent substitute!

  2. Game Night (Price Range: 0)

    • Board games, card games or video games, whatever the two of you decide this is a fun indoor activity to do for an afternoon or evening together.

  3. Painting (Price Range: $)

    • Buy a cheaper set of canvases or water color papers and paint brushes and either find a tutorial on YouTube or try painting each other by sitting across from one another. Be creative, colorful and don’t forget to have FUN!

  4. Couple’s Card Questions (Price Range: 0-$)

    • We have found a few of these over the last few years. They range from deep personal conversation starters to ones that will make you laugh together. You could also opt for a free version in simply looking up fun questions to ask your partner online.

Cold but Doable:

  1. Sledding (Price Range: 0-$)

    • If you don’t have sleds already this one might cost just the amount for the sleds to be purchased. If you have a hilly yard you don’t have to go too far for this date idea. Otherwise find a park with sledding hills and then grab some cocoa to warm up.

  2. Winter Festival (Price Range: $$)

    • We have attended some local winter fests and enjoyed yummy food, ice sculptures, music and games! It puts a bit of a spin on your typical dinner and a movie date night and is a great way to explore your city.

  3. Hiking (Price Range: 0)

    • Completely free and so pretty when the snow is dusting the naked branches of all the trees. Hiking allows for time to talk, or just enjoying one another’s company in the peacefulness of nature! You could also make a nature scavenger hunting list before you go to add an element of fun to it as well.

  4. Wine Tasting (Price Range: $$-$$$)

    • This one could cost you more money, or you could potentially do a cheaper option, it all depends on how much wine and money is in your budget. But this one is fun, whether you are at home or on a getaway together. Stop at a few local wineries/restaurants and do a tasting. I recommend eating a snack along the way, pack some for the car rides between locations or add them to your wine bill. It’s a great, romantic way to connect and engage with one another for an afternoon.
